EEPCo electrifies 33 rural towns with 50mln birr |
Dessie, October 20, 2007 (WIC)
- The North East Region of Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEPCo) has
reportedly electrified 33 rural towns with 50 million birr.
Region Director, Firealem Kure, told WIC yesterday that four towns which
used to receive diesel generated power and 29 other towns that had no power
have become beneficiaries of round-the-clock hydro-electric power.
The beneficiary towns are found in North Wollo, South Wollo, Oromia,
Waghimra, North Shoa and Affar zones, he said.
The projects executed with a fund raised by the government and donor
agencies have benefited 23,000 people, it was learnt.
